Premier League provide update on EFL talks over 'long-term' funding

The Premier League has reiterated its push to agree a “New Deal” with the EFL as soon as possible, which would boost solidarity payments to the EFL’s 72 clubs to more than double current levels. A 10-year offer was put to EFL clubs last week after talks between league executives, with documents indicating an increase of £163m per year by 2028-29, up from an estimated £134m. The proposal also includes £81m extra for the current season. The additional funding is linked to cost-control measures, including reducing Carabao Cup semi-finals to one leg and addressing the Saturday 3pm TV “blackout.”
