Red Sox Cut Ties With 6-Foot-3 All-Star Prospect in First Move After Trade

The Boston Red Sox added Curtis Mead to their lineup in a trade with the Washington Nationals on Saturday, but made a quick move on the farm system less than a day later by releasing 6-foot-3 outfield prospect Natanael Yuten. The team cut ties with Yuten, a long-term developmental project, according to a transaction listing on MILB.com. Yuten had posted notable production at the 2023 Florida Complex League level, earning an FCL All-Star game spot and the league batting title. Through 38 games in Fort Myers, he batted .336/.396/.483 with nine doubles, two triples, three homers, 32 RBIs and eight stolen bases. The Red Sox were also preparing for Mead to arrive in Boston and be active in Sacramento.
