Rising rally star claims maiden Mini Rally Challenge victory at Greystoke
Henri Cynwyl has made a strong early statement in gravel rallying by winning his first R53 Mini Rally Challenge outright at the Greystoke Stages Rally in Cumbria. After an impressive Plains Rally, the 18-year-old from Newcastle Emlyn took his second gravel event and delivered a “mature and determined” performance on rough seasonal terrain. Despite difficult conditions and damage during the event, he secured the Mini Rally Challenge win and finished 15th overall, also taking second in Class 3 for cars over 2000cc. Cynwyl credited a 1 minute 30 second lead and thanked his support network, including W1 Motorsport Group and team manager Mark Williams, as well as co-driver Dilwyn John and service help. The team even supported repairs after a damaged radiator. With a podium on gravel debut followed by the first outright victory, his next target is returning next year.
