Scholarships offered for overseas studies in fisheries, mariculture
The Ministry of Fisheries has opened applications for overseas scholarships covering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fisheries, mariculture, marine research and agriculture. The scholarships are part of the “Transforming Fisheries Management in the South West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives” project, jointly implemented by the Maldivian government and the World Bank to build technical capacity in these fields. Study destinations include Asian countries, member states of the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Commission, and OECD member countries. Master’s applicants must have a relevant bachelor’s degree and at least two years of work experience, while bachelor’s applicants need at least a C grade in five GCE O-level subjects and three A-level passes, or a recognized foundation qualification. Recipients receive course fees, an annual book allowance, establishment and departure allowances, and a monthly stipend. Applications close at noon on Sunday, 15 November, with submissions handled by the project management unit at H. Palmera or via email.
