South Leeds boxers in winning fight action
South Leeds boxers trained by Tristan Haynes and Anthony Miller celebrated wins on the Haynes 16 show held at The Angler’s club in Burmantofts, competing against fighters from clubs across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Danny Weston, 36, a delivery driver from Middleton, won his first Haynes Promotions title belt by defeating Burnley boxer Andy Webster and remained undefeated through five bouts. Weston said the fight was scheduled for four two-minute rounds but ended early when he knocked his opponent down three times in the second round for the referee to stop it. His son, Tyler, 15, had his first skills bout, performing in front of a crowd of a couple hundred. James Nalias, 22, won by first-round knockout after taking up boxing earlier this year, and he described intensive training over the last two months. Teammate Mason Ledger, 21, also achieved a first-round stoppage in his debut bout.
