Spooktacular way to get winter coats for kids

The Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles is running its Coats for Kids campaign to help families across Southwest Louisiana stay warm this winter. The annual drive is open now through Nov. 18, accepting all coat sizes—from babies to adults—and both new and gently used items. For nearly four decades the club has organized the effort, and it added Spooktacular in 2016 as a kickoff event. Over the past decade, it has grown into a family Halloween party with games, candy, a mechanical bull, a petting zoo, hourly raffle drawings, live music, food and beverages, and adult auctions. Funds support 10 local agencies including Abraham’s Tent and The Lord’s Place. Donations are tax-deductible through the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana.
