Study Reveals Gas Prices Are Shrinking America's Summer Road Trips

Gas prices are reshaping America’s summer road trips, with families planning shorter drives and fewer discretionary stops. A survey by RV Windshield Replacement of 3,002 households found that nearly two-thirds say high fuel prices are forcing them to rethink their plans. Respondents reported that the classic long-distance road trip is becoming less affordable, with fuel identified as the biggest expense at 67%, ahead of hotels at 17% and food at 8%. Many families expect changes such as in-state travel, fewer overnight stays, and reduced spending on attractions and souvenirs. On average, families said gas prices would need to rise by about $1.05 per gallon for a breaking point, based on the survey’s conclusion.
