TEAMSTERS RALLY FOR DELIVERY PROTECTION ACT AT NEW YORK CITY HALL
xCruzo Brief
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien joined hundreds of Amazon Teamsters and New York City elected officials for a rally at City Hall on Oct. 22, urging Council Speaker Julie Menin to schedule an immediate vote on the Delivery Protection Act. The bill, authored by Councilmember Tiffany Cabán (D-22nd District), would require delivery companies such as Amazon to register their facilities with the city and ban subcontracting for last-mile delivery drivers in the five boroughs. Speakers said Amazon profits through a subcontracting model that shields legal liability. O’Brien claimed Amazon has spent more than $8 million on a dark-money campaign to block the legislation.
