Tom Cruise announces Days of Thunder sequel to release in 2028, co-starring Anne Hathaway

Tom Cruise has confirmed that “Days of Thunder 2,” the long-awaited sequel to the 1990 film, will release in 2028 with Anne Hathaway joining him as co-star. Cruise will again play Cole Trickle, while Hathaway will portray a team owner and engineer. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2028, and will be shot for IMAX, with a theater-only release including Dolby Cinema and 4DX formats, according to Variety. Jonathan Levine, known for “Long Shot,” is set to direct, with Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper producing. Discussions intensified after the success of “F1,” which grossed more than $600 million, and NASCAR legend Kyle Busch reportedly spoke with a film writer on outline ideas.
