Trump gifted a lavishly encrusted ring from Belgian diamond group that won tariff relief
Trump gifted a lavish Freedom 250 ring set with Belgian gems to Bill White, the U.S. ambassador to Belgium, as part of an event in Brussels marking America’s 250th birthday. The watch-sized 18-karat gold ring features 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 13 emeralds, and six rubies, including diamond-letter “T” designs beside the Stars and Stripes and the numbers “45” and “47” styled like Superman’s emblem. It also includes a radiant “250” and the inscription “250 YEARS USA,” plus an inner engraving reading “Crafted in Antwerp for Donald John Trump.” The ring was presented by Isidore Mörsel of the Antwerp World Diamond Center, whose industry recently secured zero U.S. import tariffs on more than $2 billion of Antwerp polished-diamond exports. A White House official said it has not yet been delivered to Trump. The episode highlights how high-value gifts may intersect with trade negotiations and presidential gift rules.
