Trump heads to deep-red Alabama to 'thank' loyal voters as GOP eyes a key House seat

Fresh off visits to Texas and Oklahoma, President Donald Trump heads to Mobile, Alabama, for a Friday night rally aimed at energizing Republican voters ahead of midterms. The event comes as Trump’s job approval sits at 31%—record low across both terms—according to an AP-NORC poll, with 69% disapproving. Trump won Alabama by wide margins in 2016, 2020, and 2024, including a 30.5-point win last year. Mobile was redrawn into Alabama’s 1st Congressional District after mid-decade redistricting; the GOP-favoring lines would have backed Trump by about 40 points in 2024. The rally starts 7 p.m. ET at the Mitchell Center at the University of South Alabama.
