Why Dodgers haven't called up one of their top prospects for World Series push

The Dodgers passed on promoting top outfield prospect choices for their World Series push despite two opportunities in recent weeks. When September call-ups expanded rosters, Los Angeles selected infielder Alex Freeland instead of options including Triple-A star James Tibbs III. They also activated catcher Dalton Rushing from the injured list for batting-only duties before he returned to the IL again after an elbow ligament flare-up. After that setback, another opening for a left-handed bat emerged. Yet rather than recall Tibbs, top Double-A prospect Josue De Paula, or Ryan Ward, the Dodgers chose Eliezer Alfonzo as a third catcher, keeping Will Smith and Hunter Feduccia available as pinch-hitters.
