Young Washington Mystics on rise after road wins over Liberty and Lynx
The Washington Mystics have turned their season momentum on the road, winning three straight away games after early struggles. Washington captured late victories over the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx, and also won at Connecticut last week, marking the first time the franchise has won three consecutive road games since 2024. Forward Kiki Iriafen scored the go-ahead basket in both the Liberty and Lynx wins, and said the team is learning to improve month to month. Coach Sydney Johnson said the Mystics’ youngest roster in league history has bought in during training camp and used early lessons to improve performances. The Mystics return home Wednesday against Minnesota. In the AP power poll, Las Vegas and Minnesota are tied first, followed by Atlanta and New York, while Washington moved up four spots to seventh.
