Battle of the branding: Who is competing for inaugural European CMO of the Year at Cannes Lions
The European CMO of the Year award marks Cannes Lions' first dedicated recognition for the continent's marketing chiefs, debuting on June 22. A 29‑strong shortlist spans brands from LEGO and Ferrari to Coca‑Cola and L’Oréal, plus newer players such as Klarna, Gymshark, and Revolut. Eligibility requires at least two years in a CMO role and responsibility for marketing across four European countries. Winners are chosen by the marketing community through the CMO Barometer, a survey of more than 800 leaders from 15 countries. Across the continent, candidates include industry giants and rising stars, with the winner to be announced at a Cannes gala on June 22, hosted by Euronews Culture's editor‑in‑chief Tokunbo Salako. The panel will weigh strategic leadership, regional impact, and the ability to translate marketing outcomes into business growth. Euronews is a partner in the initiative, underscoring the festival's emphasis on data‑driven, cross‑border marketing leadership. The shortlist highlights the depth of European marketing talent and the shift toward a more formalized benchmark for CMO excellence. The winner will receive recognition from a broad community of peers and set a benchmark for future European marketing leadership.
