Bitcoin Taps $65K Despite CLARITY Act Setback and Lack of US-Iran Deal: Weekly Crypto Recap
Bitcoin pushed to the $65,000 level amid continuing uncertainty around the U.S. CLARITY Act and the lack of a U.S.–Iran deal. After the Federal Reserve FOMC meeting last week, the market focused on whether the Senate would vote on the CLARITY Act before the August recess. The bill’s delayed vote was known Thursday evening. Before that, bitcoin tried to break $65,000 resistance on Friday, fell quickly to $62,400, then hit a monthly low around $62,200 as bearish pressure persisted. A relief rally followed when President Donald Trump canceled planned strikes against Iran, though Iran denied a permanent deal was imminent. BTC later climbed back near $65,300 before pulling slightly to around $64,750, with market cap about $1.3 trillion and 57% dominance over altcoins.
