Speaking Thursday in Miami, DeSantis argued that if there is surplus revenue, lawmakers should cut taxes rather than borrow money. He warned that funding the plan with additional borrowing—described as “another trillion-and-a-half dollars”—would raise inflation and increase national debt. DeSantis also faulted Congress for not pursuing a balanced budget, saying incentives reward debt for short-term political gains.
