European Shares Set To Open Higher As Focus Shifts To Earnings
European stocks were expected to open higher Tuesday as the Nasdaq notched a record close, driven by strength in AI and technology. U.S. stock index futures edged up and traders pared back expectations for another Fed rate hike, with CME FedWatch putting the odds at about 20% for this month, down from roughly 70% a week earlier. Markets awaited data including the ADP Employment Change 4-week average and Wednesday’s Fed minutes from the September meeting for clues on inflation and the labor market. The U.S. earnings season starts this week with PepsiCo and Delta Air Lines, followed by major banks next week. In commodities, oil retreated from recent peaks, while gold fell to $4,122 an ounce. In Europe, STOXX 600 rose 0.4% while France’s CAC 40 fell and Germany’s DAX inched up.
