xCruzo Brief
The FTSE 100 has edged higher in early trading, helped by a wave of upgrades from major companies, though momentum remains sensitive to guidance. The index was up eight points at 10,916.5, after starting lower. Rolls-Royce led gainers, up 3.5% following a raised outlook, while BAE Systems climbed 1.4%. Miners such as Rio Tinto and Endeavour added more than 2%, with Antofagasta, Fresnillo, Shell and Glencore also among the risers. BAE lifted full-year targets after stronger first-half sales and orders, with revenue rising 9% to £15.8bn and a record £84bn backlog. Rolls-Royce raised guidance too, citing a 46% jump in first-half operating profit and widening margins.
