India's protest movements Uunite in fresh headache for Modi
Protesters began gathering in New Delhi for a major opposition rally challenging India’s government over voter-roll revisions that critics say are excluding legitimate voters. Organized under “Save the Vote, Save the Country,” the demonstration targets turnout of about one million at Ramlila Maidan, a site that has hosted large political protests. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in Gujarat, accused the INDIA bloc of trying to divide the country and obstruct development. The Election Commission denies wrongdoing. Tens of thousands of supporters arrived on Sunday as police barricades and crowd-control measures disrupted traffic across central Delhi. A retired teacher from Rajasthan said the protest aims to force the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demand broader government accountability.
