Luke Baker: Dovetail policy wordings are 'a key concern' for risk ...
Luke Baker, director global y de especialidades de Allianz Commercial, warned at Airmic 2026 that dovetail policy wordings are a key concern for coverage in a more interconnected risk landscape. Speaking during the 15 to 17 June 2026 conference in Birmingham, he said clients want assurance that exposures do not fall through gaps created by traditional “monologue” insurance structures. Baker described scenarios where overlapping cyber risk and supply-chain disruption, compounded by geopolitical violence and terrorism-related losses, can trigger multiple policy types at once. He cited marine exposures through first-party vessel and cargo risks in areas such as the Strait of Hormuz, alongside knock-on impacts to supply chain resilience and land-based assets. He also referenced cyber incidents involving Marks & Spencer and Jaguar Land Rover in 2025 as examples where losses tied to production downtime might not fit traditional property coverage. Baker argued that interlocking “dovetail” wording can align policy terms and improve confidence, requiring brokers and clients to fully understand overlaps across the market.
