Nasdaq futures rise after steep AI selloff as chip stocks stabilize
xCruzo Brief
Nasdaq futures rose Friday after a sharp AI-led selloff that had nearly wiped $3 trillion in market value from S&P 500 companies. The move came as chip stocks stabilized and gained ground, following the Nasdaq Composite’s steepest one-day decline in 19 months on Thursday, pushing it into correction territory, with a fourth straight weekly drop also in view. Reuters reported that worries about tougher AI regulation after Democrats’ midterm victory were part of the selloff. At 6:24 a.m. ET, Dow E-minis were down 471 points (−0.91%), S&P 500 E-minis up 21.75 (0.29%) and Nasdaq 100 E-minis up 378.5 (1.41%). Nvidia added 4.5% premarket after its worst day since January 2025; other chip names rose too.
