Not eat' warning for fruits sold at major UK supermarkets
A Food Standards Agency (FSA) recall has been announced for apples and kiwi fruits sold across major UK supermarkets over Salmonella contamination concerns. The alert, issued Tuesday June 23, says supplier PrepWorld withdrew multiple pre-packaged ready-to-eat fruit products after testing identified Salmonella in apples and kiwi featured in the items. Affected products include fruit pots and snack packs sold by ASDA, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose, all marked with best-before or use-by dates of June 23 or 24. For ASDA, the only listed item is a 220g Pink Lady Apple, Mango, Strawberry and Blueberry pot for £2.75. Morrisons removed a 220g pack priced at £2.50. Tesco removed four items including a 250g pot and other kiwi, melon and fruit kebab packs ranging from £1.50 to £4.10, while Sainsbury’s, M&S and Waitrose each pulled multiple products.
