South Koreans are Sending Stablecoins to Foreign Exchanges at Record Rate | Market Editor's Pick
xCruzo Brief
Koreans sent stablecoins to foreign crypto exchanges at a record pace in June, with net outflows of $367 million higher than inflows. The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), data provided to lawmaker Lee Jong-wook, shows an 18-month streak since the outflow began in January 2025. Across the five licensed trading platforms—Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit and Gopax—roughly $1.8 billion in stablecoins went out and about $1.44 billion came back. A second-quarter total near $1.1 billion was reported by local media. The gap also mirrored stock outflows, despite crypto’s shrinking market and a confirmed 22% crypto tax for 2027.
