Spends $254 million on long-range Precision Strike Missile programme

Britain’s long-range Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) programme is set to receive a major funding boost, strengthening the Army’s ability to strike targets far beyond the horizon. The UK said it will spend £190 million (about $254.22 million) to buy a weapon that can neutralise targets up to 500 kilometres away. The outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer is attending a NATO summit in Ankara on Tuesday, aiming to persuade Donald Trump and other allies that UK defence spending is moving in the right direction. Deliveries for the PrSM are expected to begin in 2027. Lockheed Martin builds the next-generation supersonic ballistic missile, in a collaboration with the U.S. and Australia. The Ministry of Defence said the move supports NATO deterrence, while acknowledging the Defence Investment Plan has been criticised for not plotting a path to a 3.5% GDP core defence target.
