Treasury Hunts Down Ayatollah Financier As Trump's Team Moves To Expose Iranian Assets [WATCH]
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Trump administration has identified an individual described as the ayatollah’s “money man” and is working to identify and publicly disclose properties linked to Iran’s supreme leader. Speaking on FOX Business’ Mornings With Maria on Tuesday, Bessent said officials are tracking the person’s assets worldwide and aim to “print” properties valued at more than $100 million-plus. He described the effort as part of a broader sanctions push, including a campaign he called “Economic Fury,” intended to increase pressure on Iran. Bessent also pointed to Iran’s currency falling to an all-time low versus the U.S. dollar and inflation “upwards of 180%.” He said sanctions targeting Chinese “teapot” refineries have reduced China’s purchases of Iranian crude by about 40% in recent months. The administration continues pursuing assets abroad and disrupting revenue streams, with a focus on Iran’s oil sector.
