Trump announced a Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire, but was not confirmed by Moscow; DXY mildly firmer - Newsquawk US Market Open
President Trump announced an energy ceasefire related to Russia and Ukraine, but Moscow had not confirmed it at the time of the report, according to Newsquawk’s U.S. market open briefing. The update also said Trump lifted Russia’s diesel export ban. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he learned about the proposal through the media and was willing to stop strikes if Russia stopped targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, while noting Russia hit a power plant. Financial markets opened with firmer U.S. equity futures, with energy rebounding as Brent rose 1.1%, while the U.S. dollar index (DXY) edged higher to a 102.10–102.37 range. The week’s main scheduled focus was U.S. CPI, with additional attention to BoE and Fed speakers and LVMH earnings.
