White House Hosts Wall Street Opening Bell as Trump Highlights Windfall for 1.4 Million Babies - Internewscast Journal
White House Hosts Wall Street Opening Bell as Trump Highlights a windfall-linked policy for newborns. Donald Trump welcomed executives from the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq to ring the ceremonial opening bell inside the Oval Office on Monday, marking the rollout of “Trump Accounts.” The program provides eligible children born roughly between 2025 and 2028 with a $1,000 government-funded investment account; deposits began July 4, and withdrawals are not allowed until age 18, with limits to approved uses such as buying a home or paying education costs. The accounts are invested in ETFs. White House estimates cited by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said six million accounts have been opened, with 86% for families earning under $200,000, and 1.4 million receiving the $1,000 from the U.S. Treasury. The event also involved philanthropic funding, including mentions of Michael Dell and Brad Gerstner, as well as children appearing at the ceremony.
