World Cup Fans Say FIFA Still Owes Them Thousands Of Dollars More Than Two Months After They Sold Their Tickets

More than two months after the World Cup ended, some fans who sold tickets through FIFA’s official resale marketplace say they still haven’t been paid. Brooklyn resident Arik Shalmiyev reports waiting for more than $15,000 from three sales, including quarterfinal seats in Kansas City worth over $10,000 after fees. Others described similar delays: a Texas seller, Bart McKay, is still owed nearly $1,900, while Robert Forster says he has received no payment after selling two tickets for over $3,000 and sending 36 emails since late August. Chaun Basile of Toronto says she’s waiting on roughly $5,000 for semifinal tickets. FIFA told Front Office Sports it is issuing eligible payments and that a “limited number” require manual review or alternative arrangements.
