Alberta man caught driving 230 km/h while under the influence near Fairmont Hot Springs

A man from Alberta received multiple tickets, had his car impounded, and faced fines after driving nearly three times the posted speed limit while under the influence near Fairmont Hot Springs, according to RCMP. On July 14, British Columbia Highway Patrol Cranbrook officers were conducting road safety patrol on Highway 93/95 when they spotted an Audi traveling at 230 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Because of the vehicle’s speed, officers were unable to conduct a traffic stop safely, but continued investigating. The RCMP said the case involved alcohol and resulted in enforcement actions including tickets, fines, and the impoundment of the car. The incident highlights continued patrol efforts on the corridor near the hot springs.
