Anduril unveils interceptor missile family Steelfin to counter varied threats
Anduril has unveiled Steelfin, a configurable and scalable family of surface-to-air interceptor missiles aimed at countering a wider range of aerial threats. The program comes as the US seeks to expand military stockpiles amid the Middle East conflict. Steelfin uses a two-stage design: a first-stage booster tailored for range, performance and launch configurations, paired with a second-stage terminal interceptor that shares common components such as airframe, avionics and flight controls across variants. Anduril says the shared architecture lets different interceptor versions move through the same production line, supporting higher output. The company plans to build several thousand variants per year in the short term, with flight tests starting next year.
