Who should be the Week 5 football player of the week? Vote now to decide.

The Providence Journal has opened voting for its Week 5 Football Player of the Week, following a slate narrowed down to five nominees after standout performances across Rhode Island. Voters can cast ballots starting at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, with the winner announced in the paper next week. The article also revisits recent winners and milestones: Central Falls’ Edson DePina was named Week 4 Player of the Week after defeating North Smithfield in a close game and capturing more than 44% of the vote. For the midseason MVP, Cranston West’s Ariel Ochoa won Division I honors after edging Isaac Rodriguez of East Providence with over 63% of the vote. The award is designed to drive community social campaigns, with nominations tied to on-field production and score/stat reporting by teams.
