Atlanta Hawks Spark Outrage With 'Weird' Celebration of Angel Reese & Co. After Dream Reach WNBA Finals

The Atlanta Hawks sparked fan backlash after posting a celebratory “Dream on…to the WNBA Finals” poster that included the wrong players. On Oct. 10, the Hawks shared the graphic across social media to mark the Atlanta Dream reaching the WNBA Finals for the fourth time and first since 2013. But fans noticed the image featured Angel Reese, Jordin Canada and Rhyne Howard—Dream players—along with Hawks stars Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Supporters said it blurred team accomplishments and derailed attention from the Dream’s pursuit of a first Finals win. The Hawks, meanwhile, haven’t reached the NBA Finals since 1961.
