Ball State football names 'bowling ball' Keldric Luster starting quarterback vs. Ohio State

Ball State will open its season with a major test as the Cardinals travel to face No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday, Sept. 5. The storyline for Ball State’s offense is quarterback Keldric Luster, listed at 5-10 and 250 pounds, who has been named the team’s starting QB. On the “Cover 3” podcast, CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli called it “the biggest quarterback battle” in the nation and joked that Luster resembles a “bowling ball” quarterback due to his size. Fellow host Chip Patterson added another comment about his physical style. Statistically, Luster has appeared sparingly over the past three years at SMU and Texas State, with 4-of-12 passing for 37 yards and 16 carries for 76 yards.
