Barrow and the biking community branded 'amazing' after Dave Day football match
Barrow and the local biking community were praised as “amazing” following a charity football match tied to Dave Day and the Dave Myers Memorial Trophy. The event took place at Holker Old Boys on Saturday, June 20, as part of the broader Dave Day celebrations. North West Community Stars (NWCS) FC beat Dave’s Gold Stars 5-1, with goals from former Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert and former Salford City and AFC Fylde striker Ritchie Allen. While the match delivered results on the pitch, organizers said the atmosphere off it also took priority. NWCS FC thanked Holker Old Boys FC, volunteers linked with Adelle Hutton and Sarah Terry, and residents who welcomed the teams. The charity match debuted last year to expand donations for chosen charities, and roughly £12,000 was raised, with the GoFundMe still open.
