Bay County football recaps: Victory for the taking is history in the making

Bay City’s seven-team high school football roundup for Week 4 of the 2026 season focused on early milestones and close finishes across the county. Bay City Academy posted its first-ever win in a 72-63 shootout over Carsonville-Port Sanilac, topping 70 points with touchdowns from five players. Ryan Olson rushed for three scores and threw to Skyler Leisentritt for another, while John Lopez and A.J. Tate each ran for two touchdowns. The defense was led by Josh Thayer and Donte Briggs with 10 tackles apiece. Essexville Garber held on 16-14 against Alma, with Dominick Knezek running 22 times for 95 yards and forcing key moments late, including a pivotal onside kick recovery by Dakota Inda after a botched punt snap.
