Bernanke joins Anthropic's oversight trust, JPMorgan inks NBA deal
Bernanke joins Anthropic’s oversight trust, reinforcing the AI company’s plan to be held to its mission through an independent governance structure. Former Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke was appointed to Anthropic’s long-term benefit trust, described as a corporate oversight body intended to keep the company accountable. Bernanke led the Fed from 2006 to 2014, including at the helm during the 2008 financial crisis and recovery, and now serves as a distinguished fellow at the Brookings Institution. In the company’s Thursday announcement, Bernanke said outcomes from AI depend partly on the institutions built around it. The trust includes four members who do not hold company equity and do not receive corporate profits, and its role is to balance public interests with those of investors as a public benefit corporation.
