Big Ten will not allow NFL players return to college football

The Big Ten has decided it will not allow NFL players to return to college football and play for a conference school. The change, described by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, would bar anyone who declared for the NFL Draft and did not withdraw—after appearing on an NFL roster, signing a pro contract, or staying on a pro deal—from being on a Big Ten roster. The ACC is reportedly considering a similar rule, and the SEC is set to discuss it Tuesday with commissioner Greg Sankey and presidents in Birmingham. If adopted broadly, it could affect Kentucky commit Alex Afari Jr., among others. The rule’s ability to hold up in court remains uncertain.
