Bills sign one of NFL's smallest players after big opportunity at minicamp

Deven Thompkins earned a contract with the Buffalo Bills after impressing at mandatory minicamp, signing on Thursday following a tryout at One Bills Drive. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound wide receiver, 26, ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at his Utah State pro day and has appeared in 36 NFL games, tallying 29 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown while contributing on special teams with 42 punt returns for 368 yards and 45 kickoff returns for 1,005 yards. He becomes the lightest player on Buffalo's roster by 25 pounds, adding speed and return value behind a depth chart led by D.J. Moore and Khalil Shakir.
