Celtics Land Major Update on Rumored $112 Million Trade Target
Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens’ offseason has been defined by a reported $112 million-level trade target and the fallout from last moves. After Boston pursued Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks but saw him traded to the Miami Heat, the Celtics later dealt Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George plus two first-round picks and two second-round picks. According to HoopsHype NBA insider Michael Scotto, the New Orleans Pelicans are now asking for three first-round picks for Trey Murphy III, down from a prior report of four. Scotto said Boston’s added draft capital from the Brown deal aligns with what New Orleans wants. Murphy, 26, has three years left on a deal totaling $87 million and averaged 21.5 points in 66 Pelicans games during 2025-26.
