Contact ratchets up, other takeaways from Florida football practice

Florida football held its sixth practice of fall camp on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at the Sanders Practice Fields, marking its first day in full pads. The Gators will continue for three more weeks ahead of their Sept. 5 opener against Florida Atlantic. While Florida wasn’t tackling yet, the staff ramped up contract work in preparation for live tackling on Saturday, Aug. 15 during the first intrasquad scrimmage. Among the open-practice takeaways, wide receiver Dallas Wilson returned to live passing drills and made a leaping catch from Tramell Jones Jr., though drops also appeared. Florida is working for depth at edge rush behind projected starter Jayden Woods, with Kofi Asare (6-5, 247) and KJ Ford (6-4, 250) pushing in drills. The offensive line continues experimenting with combinations, including Bryce Lovett at both guard and tackle and Fletcher Westphal at right tackle.
