Dinosaur Jr. Confirm New LP, 'There Near'

Dinosaur Jr. has confirmed its new studio LP, There Near, set for release on August 28 via Jagjaguwar, expanding the band’s next chapter in alt-rock. Alongside the album announcement, the group released the lead single/video “Several Got Away” and also confirmed a fall North American tour. Guy Kozak, who directed the video, described a tongue-in-cheek “backyard movie” approach and said the production took shape from inspirations including Henry Darger’s artwork and ideas around rapture. There Near is the sixth studio album since Dinosaur Jr. reformed after their 1997 breakup, created over a year at Amherst’s Bisquiteen Studio. Core members Lou Barlow, Murph and J Mascis drove most of the recording, with additional piano and organ by Ken Mauri. J Mascis noted using a recently acquired 70s Mesa Boogie MK 1 amp.
