Duke guard John Blackwell heads list of notable men's college basketball transfers
Duke guard John Blackwell is among the notable men’s college basketball transfers after his move from Wisconsin to the Blue Devils. Duke coach Jon Scheyer’s message stood out to Blackwell when he entered the transfer portal, saying “He just kept it real” by promising daily push and no sugarcoating. Blackwell, a 6-foot-5 guard, finished three seasons at Wisconsin with 1,505 points (11th in program history) and last season averaged 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds as the Badgers went 24-11 before an 83-82 loss to High Point in the NCAA Tournament opener. He was a first-team preseason All-ACC selection and finished second to Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder for ACC preseason player of the year. The report also notes preseason scoring bursts against No. 17 Kansas (23) and No. 8 Tennessee (18). It then lists other transfers likely to make an impact: Flory Bidunga to Louisville, Juke Harris to Tennessee, Mila Momcilovic to Kentucky, and Paulius Murauskas to Arizona State.
