Ex-Nuggets Star Admits Plan To Get Peyton Watson Out Of Denver
After being traded from the Denver Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. has continued to support his former team while signaling a desire for a specific addition to the Brooklyn Nets. Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York, Porter discussed Peyton Watson, reportedly saying he is “tryna get him in Brooklyn,” referencing expectations that Watson could sign for $130 million. The remarks come as Porter prepares for the final phase of his contract: the 2026–2027 season is expected to be the last year of a five-year deal that began in 2022. Porter will earn $40.8 million to close out a $179.2 million agreement. As of mid-July, the Nets were not described as actively extending him, but could address it soon. For Watson, the article notes Brooklyn may not be willing to spend heavily, with recent links to the Bucks, Clippers and Hawks, while Denver remains prioritizing him and keeping him under contract.
