Exchange of accusations erupts between Iranian and Yemeni representatives
The exchange of accusations between Iranian and Yemeni representatives escalated during the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with Ruhollah Motefakkerazad challenging claims made by Yemen. The Iranian MP criticized representatives of the UAE and other Muslim countries, accusing the UAE of distorting facts and saying U.S. and Israeli military equipment—including combat aircraft—was used against Iran from certain Muslim territories. Motefakkerazad argued that states enabling an aggressor cannot claim victimhood and said Iran has maintained goodwill and commitment to international law. Yemen’s House of Representatives Speaker Sultan Saeed Al-Barakani rejected the remarks, citing historical references to the Iran-Iraq War. The confrontation highlighted a competing narrative over regional security and accountability.
