FIFA plan for Kushner-backed operation to run World Cup meets fury from Europe

FIFA President Gianni Infantino unveiled a plan to create a $20 billion company, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), backed by private investors including the Kushner family, to run competitions such as the World Cup and Club World Cup. UEFA immediately criticized the move, saying “It is not FIFA’s to sell,” and warning that football’s governance should not trade “the soul and governance of football.” FIFA said FFE would raise up to $4.2 billion later this year via minority, non-controlling interests, working with J.P. Morgan. FIFA’s members, 211 national federations, must approve changes, with access to up to $20 million each one-off.
