French Soccer Player Turned 5-Star OT, Adopted By American Family, Commits to SEC Powerhouse
French soccer-to-football prospect Ismael Camara has committed to an SEC powerhouse, giving the Texas Longhorns a five-star interior offensive lineman. Camara, who moved to America in 2024 and played varsity football for the first time in 2025, accepted the offer from Texas on June 2, 2025, after multiple visits to Austin. The Longhorns beat out Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU and other top-10 programs. He is 6-foot-6 and 345 pounds and was ranked No. 29 overall, No. 4 interior offensive lineman, and No. 4 in Texas by Rivals. The July 4 commitment, relayed through his father, included praise for Texas’ winning tradition. Camara spent six years playing soccer in France, later in Gilmer, Texas, where his adopted family helped him adapt. As of 2027, he is the Longhorns’ fifth offensive lineman in the class.
