Fullbacks scarce but Broncos' Adam Prentice presses on | NFL Insider
xCruzo Brief
Fullbacks are getting harder to find in the NFL, and Denver’s Adam Prentice is having to prove his value in fewer offensive snaps. Pro Football Focus says only 14 teams—less than half of the league—used a fullback this season, and the Associated Press stopped naming a fullback All-Pro after 2020. Prentice, in his sixth NFL season, joined the Broncos last year as their lone fullback and remains 6-foot-245 pounds. So far this season, he averages 18.3 special-teams snaps but just 6.0 on offense, down from 12.4 in 2025. Entering Sunday at Arizona, he has one carry for 3 yards and one catch for 2. Coach Sean Payton says the Broncos still want a “true” fullback, even as he points to modern alternatives like the “F” tight end.
