Gianni Infantino effigy to be burned down on Bonfire Night
xCruzo Brief
Gianni Infantino will be the subject of an effigy burning on Bonfire Night in Kent town on Thursday, according to the Edenbridge Bonfire Society. The group says it chose the FIFA president after “a string of decisions” it believes have left a mark on world football following the World Cup. Last year’s effigy in the same tradition was of former UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, while 2016 featured a Donald Trump figure. Organizers say Infantino’s effigy includes money coming from his ears and a sign reading “President for Dummies: How to Make Billions,” as well as a trophy bearing Trump’s face. Fifa scrapped its “Fifa Forward Enterprise” sell-off plan in August.
