Greg Dortch is a perfect fit for Lions amid NFL journey filled with adversity
Greg Dortch’s move to the Detroit Lions underscores how NFL teams can turn adversity into opportunity as the receiver enters his eighth season. Arriving from the Arizona Cardinals, Dortch was brought in by new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing and is expected to compete for a role on the punt return unit. In 2025 with Arizona, he recorded 811 kickoff return yards on 31 attempts, his best production for that aspect of the game. The Lions view him as a potential special-teams impact player, especially after the team lost Kalif Raymond. With Detroit investing in Isaac TeSlaa’s development alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, Dortch also offers depth as a WR3 option. The signing reflects the Lions’ offseason push to address depth issues exposed by injuries in 2025.
