Haltemprice Leisure Centre lands £2m 3G football pitch
Haltemprice Leisure Centre in East Yorkshire has opened a new 3G football pitch after a reported £2.1 million investment. The facility includes floodlighting, new changing areas and additional car parking, and it is funded through commuted sums from property developers plus a £975,000 grant from the Premier League, the FA and the government’s Football Foundation. East Riding of Yorkshire Council said three local clubs will use the pitch and that it is intended to become a hub to help develop football for women and girls. Councillor Nick Coultish said the project represents a significant investment in local sport, emphasizing the weather-resilient surface. The council highlighted expected benefits for year-round access and fewer disruptions from poor ground conditions.
